“Every man’s foremost task is the actualization of his unique, unprecedented and never-recurring potentialities, and not the repetition of something that another, and be it even the greatest, has already achieved.”
— Martin Buber
Two of my favorite influences in my own existential approach to psychotherapy are Viktor Frankl and Martin Buber. I hold deep gratitude for my ability to engage in work that I have enjoyed during the past 20+ years. It’s a privilege to journey with my clients while navigating hardships and celebrating triumphs.
My approach to therapy is individualized and very strategic. I often recommend that clients complete therapeutic work between sessions. I embrace a collaborative spirit as I journey with each client.
My favorite contemporary research is health psychologist Kelly McDonigal, who researches and brilliantly explains the many factors affecting our resilience. I love learning new things, continually, and enjoy sharing these new insights and facts with clients, friends and family. In the past I have enjoyed training and mentoring college students engaged in a peer support student program, students who eventually became young professionals in psychotherapy, education and health care.
For my own self care I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hiking and spending time in nature, the fine arts, great books, and film. Travel is always nice, too!
